The story behind Stories Between Us
I’m Lyndall. I created Stories Between Us because of my own Dad, John.
A few years ago, we sadly lost Dad. Before he passed away, we managed to sit down and really talk. I treasure those conversations more than almost anything else I own. They capture his character and his great sense of humour, in his own distinct voice, exactly as if he were telling them again. When I read those stories now, I don’t just remember what he said, I hear him.
I created Stories Between Us to help other families to do the same, in their own time. So the stories that make your Mum or Dad who they are get heard, and passed down, in their own words.
Importantly, it’s uniquely Australian, with no Americanised wording or references.
In an age where AI can write almost anything, one thing it can never give you is the stories your grandparents, Mum or Dad told you in their own voice. That’s what these cards are for. Get started now.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to be a good writer to use this?
Not at all. There’s nothing to write. The cards do the hard work of starting the conversation, one simple question at a time. You just need to ask, and listen.
Is this set for me to ask someone else, or to answer myself?
Both. Many people give Stories Between Us as a gift for a parent or grandparent, so their children or grandchildren can sit down and ask them the questions directly. Others work through the cards alone, thinking through their own answers as a way of reflecting on their own story.
What if my parent finds it hard to talk about the past?
The cards are designed to start gently, with warm, easy memories first. There’s no pressure to answer every card, and no wrong way to use it. Skip anything that doesn’t feel right and come back to it later, or not at all.
Will my Stories Between Us conversation cards arrive in time for Christmas?
Stories Between Us conversation cards orders placed by 10tht November will be posted quickly in order to arrive before Christmas. Because the first print run sold out, I’d recommend reserving your set sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment.
Can I buy more than one set?
